Liftbite is operated by Cole Caccamise in North Carolina. Liftbite is built as an early fitness tracking beta, with a manual-first logging loop and optional AI-assisted food estimates.
In summary:
- we do not sell personal information.
- the early app does not require an account.
- the app may create an anonymous local user identifier.
- food, water, workout, goal, and progress data may be stored locally and synced to Liftbite's API where supported.
- photo and AI-assisted food features may send selected images or text to Liftbite's API and AI providers.
- Liftbite does not write to HealthKit in the MVP.
- if you contact us, we use your message only to reply and support you.
Information you give Liftbite
Liftbite can store the information you choose to enter in the app, including:
- your goal mode, such as gain weight, lose weight, maintain weight, or general progress.
- food entries, food search text, barcode lookups, calories, macros, portions, meal notes, and food photos you choose to submit.
- water logs and daily hydration totals.
- workouts, exercises, sets, reps, weights, rest details, workout plans, custom workouts, and workout history.
- app preferences, onboarding status, local identifiers, and feature settings.
- support messages, beta feedback, bug reports, and any details you include when contacting us.
Some information may stay on your device. Some information may be sent to Liftbite's API when a feature needs backend support, syncing, food search, barcode lookup, AI food estimation, troubleshooting, or beta review.
Anonymous identity
The early Liftbite build does not require an email, phone number, or full account. It may generate and persist an anonymous user ID or installation ID so your logs and preferences can work across app sessions and supported backend features.
Anonymous identifiers are still data. We use them to provide app functionality, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and understand beta usage.
Permissions
Liftbite only asks for permissions that support the product:
- camera or photo access. Used when you choose to scan a barcode or submit a food photo for AI-assisted nutrition estimates.
- notifications. Used for reminders or app messages if that feature is added and you allow it.
You can change permissions in iOS settings.
Liftbite does not write to HealthKit in the MVP. If HealthKit support is added later, this policy will be updated before that data is used.
Food search, barcodes, and AI food scans
When you search for food, scan a barcode, or submit a food photo, Liftbite may send the search text, barcode value, selected image, or related context to Liftbite's API. Liftbite's API may use food-data providers, barcode-data providers, or AI providers to return estimated food names, calories, macros, portions, and related nutrition information.
AI and database results are estimates and may be wrong. You can review and edit entries in the app. Do not submit photos or notes that include sensitive information you do not want processed for food estimation.
Workouts and goals
Liftbite may store workout data, goal selections, exercise history, and progress information so the app can show your history, make simple suggestions, and help you compare behavior over time.
Fitness and nutrition data can be sensitive. We use it to provide Liftbite features, not to sell personal information.
Analytics and diagnostics
Liftbite may use analytics and diagnostics to understand whether the beta is working, where users get stuck, which features are useful, and what needs fixing.
Analytics or diagnostics may include:
- app events, screens, button taps, feature usage, and general session activity.
- app version, device type, operating system, locale, and coarse network-derived information such as country or region.
- generated user, device, or installation identifiers.
- crash reports, error details, logs, performance data, and related diagnostic context.
- high-level app state needed to understand product behavior, such as goal type, entry source, completion status, or whether a permission was granted.
We do not use analytics to sell personal information or to track you across other companies' apps and websites for advertising.
Website and contact data
The Liftbite website is minimal. Hosting providers may process ordinary server logs, such as request time, URL, IP address, browser, and device information, to keep the site secure and available.
If you email us at hi@liftbite.app, we receive your email address and anything you include in the message. We use that information to respond, troubleshoot, and improve Liftbite.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide food logging, water tracking, workout logging, goal tracking, AI-assisted estimates, and support features.
- keep your app state, history, and preferences working.
- understand beta usage patterns and improve Liftbite.
- troubleshoot bugs, crashes, failed API calls, and support requests.
- protect the app, website, API, and users from abuse.
- comply with legal obligations.
Sharing
We share information only when needed to run Liftbite:
- with Apple for App Store distribution, app permissions, notifications, and related iOS features.
- with food-data or barcode-data providers for nutrition lookup features.
- with AI providers for food photo or voice/text estimate features when you choose to use them.
- with infrastructure providers that host the website or API.
- with analytics and diagnostics providers if enabled for product improvement and troubleshooting.
- with email providers if you contact us.
- if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
We do not sell personal information.
Retention
Local app data stays on your device until you delete it in the app, reset the app, or delete Liftbite from your device. Some data may remain in iCloud or device backups depending on your Apple settings.
Data synced to Liftbite's API is kept as long as reasonably needed to provide beta functionality, troubleshoot issues, improve the product, protect against abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Support emails are kept as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of the issue. Analytics and diagnostics data is kept only as long as reasonably needed for product analytics, troubleshooting, security, and legal purposes.
Deleting or accessing your data
Because the early build does not require a full account, some data may only be removable by deleting the app or resetting local app data. You can also contact us at hi@liftbite.app to ask what information we can access, request deletion of support records or backend beta data where available, or ask a privacy question.
Children
Liftbite is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
International users
Liftbite is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other places where our service providers operate.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain uses of personal information. Email hi@liftbite.app and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Changes
We may update this policy as Liftbite changes. When we do, we will update this page.
